About me

Welcome to my website! I have started out small with pet portraits alongside building up a collection of wildlife pieces, but am also now active as cellist bringing me another step closer to making this website a hub for all of my creative outlets.

As an Artist

I have been drawing since a very young age, but was first introduced to realism and portraiture by a practitioner at an after-school club when my family lived in Glasgow. I continued to develop my drawing skills and love of art throughout school and college and, now settled on the Wirral with my husband and our two cats, have returned to art as an adult with more enthusiasm than ever.

I love the simplicity that only graphite pencil can bring to a piece of art. My art style is highly realistic, often seeking to capture every strand of fur, yet retains the unique marks and smudges of the medium I use. I enjoy learning about the personalities of each pet I am commissioned to draw and love to bring out their unique character in their portraits.

As a Musician

Music has also long been an important part of my life, ever since I started playing the cello aged nine. Playing in the Nottingham Youth Orchestra throughout my preteen/teenage years also secured a love of orchestral music and group performance. I went on to study music at the University of Hull where I was awarded a First, having studied modules in performance, session musicianship and composition.

After graduating from the University of Hull in 2020 I explored a career in Early Years teaching and playing in the Wirral Symphony Orchestra became my only musical outlet. However, after suffering from burnout and a personal loss that changed my perspective on life completely, I quit my job at a local nursery. I have since been enjoying rediscovering my sound as a cellist and my confidence has grown immensely.
